This summer, we're recognizing the most impactful onchain applications that bring people around the world onchain. The Onchain Summer Awards is a retroactive awards campaign designed to spotlight the most innovative, engaging, and widely-used mini apps and consumer apps across the Base ecosystem.

From July 9 to September 2nd, we’ll be tracking key engagement metrics to identify and celebrate the apps and people that are leading the charge in bringing the next billion users onchain.

The top teams will earn prizes, and/or an invitation to Basecamp where they will be spotlighted during our live OCS Awards Ceremony.

Builder Award Categories

Top Apps by Overall Engagement

A total of 20 teams will share $200,000 in prizes based on the following 4 categories based on engagement.

1. Top 5 Live Mini Apps
Awarded to the most successful onchain mini apps overall, based on engagement and usage metrics.

2. Top 5 Live Consumer Apps
Awarded to the highest-performing full-featured consumer apps driving sustained user engagement and onchain activity.

3. Top 5 New Mini Apps
Awarded to newly launched mini apps (after July 1, 2025) that show exceptional traction and early adoption.

4. Top 5 New Consumer Apps
Awarded to the top 5 newly launched consumer apps (after July 1, 2025) that demonstrate breakout momentum.

Top Apps by App Maturity

In addition want to reward teams all all stages of the builder journey - so we’ve decided to add an additional $50k in prizes plus growth and distribution support split across teams at all stages of maturity:

Top 30 Early Stage Apps (<100 users):
Each win $1k each, plus receive dedicated support from Base Core team.

Top 15 Emerging Apps (<5000 users)
Each teams will each earn $1k, plus will earn automatic entry into Incubase this fall.

Top 5 Established ( >5000 users)
5 established teams will each earn $1k, plus will receive social recognition and direct support for growth enablement (fundraising support, feature in TBA)

Note: Live apps are considered apps built and launched before July 1st 2025. New apps are apps that can be built and launched after July 1st 2025.

Judging Evaluation

Winners in each category will be determined based on onchain engagement data, including (but not limited to):

• Demand generated for Base Blockspace
• Interactions from repeat Base users
• Interactions from Base users with high trust scores
• Interactions of new Base users
• Transaction Volume
• Open Source license of contract code
• Farcaster session data (mini apps)
• Base app session data (mini apps)
• Farcaster leaderboard ranking

All metrics will be measured on Base, retroactively evaluated from the program start date through the end of the campaign.

‼️ In order for Base to evaluate the above metrics, teams will need to register their app on Base Build (Available August 12th for Mini apps and August 19th for consumer apps)

Weekly OCS Live Spotlight

Each week one app will be featured during a livestream where they will be able to demo their application, and gain exposure to a broader audience. Applications will be selected on a rolling basis.

Why It Matters

The Onchain Summer Awards is a celebration of both existing and new teams whose creations move us forward and provides:

• 🎤 Spotlight: The top teams and builders will be featured during the live OCS Awards Ceremony during Basecamp.
• 🏆 Prizes: Earn prizes based on performance.
• 🤝 Network: Join the Base core team, fellow builders and creators live at Bascamp this fall.
